My name is Amanda Smith. I am posting in regards to my son and the daycare he was attending. Up until recently he attended ABC’s and 123’s in New Haven, MO. My son has told me of inappropriate touching amongst the students, amongst teachers and students, and amongst teachers. I have talked with Tonya Boehmer (the owner) once and I talked with Jacinda Jarchow-Nunnally (the director) numerous times in regards to what I heard from my son. I feel that my concerns were not taken seriously. My concerns were minimized and the subject changed. I feel that Jacinda handled the situation very poorly and talked to me in a very unprofessional way. On May 14th I walked in to see Jane (a teacher) holding my son down. I talked to both Tonya and Jacinda the next day. I was told that that was Jane’s last day on the schedule and she was done. I assumed she was fired, but she was then brought back a week or so later. When I told Jacinda my son had named the teacher as touching him inappropriately she then made it seem like that since Jane had another job and the ABC’s schedule was full she wouldn’t be back any time soon. A report to CPS should have been made for at least those two situations but the daycare failed to do so. The only reports to be made have been by me and a social worker at Children’s Hospital. I am curious as to whether or not she had informed the other student’s parents about what I told her. There are two girls and a boy my son has talked about a lot. There are a few other kids he has mentioned once or twice. If your child attends or did attend ABC’s and 123’s in New Haven and you have had any similar situations please contact me on Facebook or make a report to CPS at 1-800-392-3738. Due to recent changes in behavior and things my son has said (more than once) I along with professionals feel that there is cause for concern.
